Hernon Manufacturing Releases Case Study Results for Gasket Replacer 916

Case Study: Ensuring Proper Gasket Formation
Laboratory tests determine the proper application methods for Gasket Replacer 916 for a customer.

The Issue
A customer experienced application issues using Hernon GasketReplacer 916 and Hernon’s Environmentally Friendly (EF) 50 Primer in their internal combustion engine.  When properly applied and used together the primer and the gasket replacer will create a seal on a seal.

The Products
Hernon’s Gasket Replacer 916 is a single component room temperature cure gel-like anaerobic gasketing compound formulated to provide instant sealing capabilities. Once cured between mating metal flanges filling voids in the surface, Gasket Replacer 916 provides a thin, flexible, solvent and temperature resistant seal. Gasket Replacer 916 can replace or be used as a dressing for conventional gaskets. EF Primer 50 is a single component, non-CFC solvent based product designed to promote the cure speed of Hernon anaerobic adhesives and sealants.

Laboratory Testing
Hernon Manufacturing’s quality and development department asked for the customer to furnish parts to see if Hernon’s engineers could help them ensure proper gasket formation.  A few scenarios were tried and tested to their specifications, here were the results:

Scenario 1
1. Apply thin coat of EF 50 Primer to a back plate, which is equivalent to the customers’ rotor case.
2. Wait 30 seconds for Primer to flash off.
3. Using the template supplied by the customer, apply Gasket Replacer 916 in a continuous bead around the bearing housing.

4. Next, the bearing housing was flipped over and placed on to the back plate. Using the 4 screws supplied by the customer, they were torqued to 35 N.m (310 in-lbs).
5. Wait 30 minutes.
6. After the first 30 minutes, the Hernon top plate (the customers’ nose assembly) was sprayed with EF 50 primer.
7. Hernon Gasket Replacer 916 was applied to the top of the bearing housing. The EF 50 Primer had sufficient time to flash off as the 916 was applied to the top with the template.
8. The top plate was placed on top of the bearing housing and the other 6 screws supplied by the customer were torqued to 35 N.m.
9. Wait 20 minutes, then pressure tested the assembly to 15 psi for 2 minutes. No leaks were present.
8. The pressure was raised to 20 psi for 1 minute. Again, no leaks were present.

Scenario 2
1. Using the template supplied by the customer, apply Hernon Gasket Replacer 916 in a continuous bead around the bearing housing. No primer applied.
2. Flip the housing over and torque with the 4 screws to 35 N.m.
3. After approximately 25 minutes, applied Gasket Replacer 916 to top of the bearing housing using the template and then attached the top plate with the 6 screws torqued at 35 N.m. No primer applied.
4. Wait 20 minutes.
5. Pressure tested as in step 1 above at 15 and 20 psi – No leak present.

Hernon Manufacturing Engineers Autosealer Tabletop Dispensing Robot

Central Florida adhesive and dispensing equipment manufacturer builds industrial dispensing robot for repeatable, precision adhesive applications

Sanford, FL., June 11th, 2014 – Hernon Manufacturing, the innovator in adhesives, sealants and dispensing equipment has engineered an automated, industrial dispensing robot, called the Autosealer 2250. The new robot offers reliable operation with excellent repeatability for the precise application of adhesives and sealants.

Hernon’s Autosealer is an industrial dispensing robot that can be used for multiple manufacturing processes including potting or bonding. It’s three and four dimensional motion controls allow for an operator to easily program complex patterns on different planes.

“Hernon’s Autosealer 2250 robot is ideal to be used for repeat, complex patterns and uniform patterns,” said Edgardo Rodriguez, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hernon Manufacturing. “Our new robot is more than just a piece of dispensing equipment. It will save manufacturing time while increasing accuracy, and decreasing costs associated with labor and the adhesive loss typically associated with other methods of dispensing.”

With the ability to work as a stand-alone unit or as part of an automated solution, Hernon’s Autosealer robot can be easily integrated into assembly lines and other in-line conveyor-based manufacturing processes. Additionally, this industrial dispensing robot can be quickly set-up and easily programmed via a personal computer eliminating the need for learning complex programming languages.

“If you’re looking for an industrial, precision adhesive dispensing system, this is it,” added Rodriguez.

HERNON Manufacturing has been committed to delivering world class adhesive, sealant, and impregnation solutions along with precision dispensing systems for nearly four decades.  A long-time member of Central Florida’s industrial manufacturing community, HERNON offers strong brands and technologies, all made in the United States, for a diverse range of industries including:  Energy/Power Generation, Medical, Electronics, Electrical, LED, Automotive, Appliances, Sporting Goods, Ammunition, Communications, Aerospace, Aviation, High Tech Audio, Defense, Fire Suppression, Transportation, and Marine. Clean Footprint Executive Meets with EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy

Prior to the carbon emission limits placed on power plants Central Florida clean energy company discusses air pollution and clean energy initiatives with EPA Administrator.

Cape Canaveral, Fl., June 3rd, 2014 – Recently, the Founder of Clean Footprint, John Porter, met with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy.

The Administrator traveled to Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando to discuss energy initiatives prior to the Clean Energy Plan announced yesterday. During her visit she participated in a classroom experiment to test air pollution, met with students studying environmental science and discussed leaving a cleaner planet for the next generation. Also in attendance were Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and EPA Regional Administrator Heather McTeer Toney.

“New federal regulations that aim to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power plants will have a large economic upside, largely through health savings, says Gina McCarthy, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. "But that doesn't mean that the share of electricity from coal is going to be significantly diminished."

Clean Footprint, Central Florida’s leading solar development and finance company, is committed to providing reliable, cost effective, and sustainable clean energy choices that benefit both the environment and the people living in it.

A solar energy system produces electricity with no emissions, no greenhouse gases, no pollution and no waste products. Solar is also sustainable choice with an endless supply of sunlight as a fuel source – and it’s free. Additionally, the growing solar industry has created jobs in sales, installation, manufacturing and financing.

“Power Plants have had no limits on their climate pollution, but that all just changed.” said John Porter, Managing Partner and Founder of Clean Footprint. “Gina McCarthy said it best stating that the most costly thing we can do is nothing.”
