Clean Footprint’s Leader Marches Against Climate Change in New York
Hundreds
of thousands of people worldwide attend the People’s Climate March
Cape
Canaveral, Fl., September 24th, 2014 – Joining more than 400,000
people in midtown Manhattan alone, and hundreds of thousands worldwide, John
Porter, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Clean Footprint, attended the
People’s Climate March on Sunday in New York City.
"Being part of the Climate March in
NYC was invigorating! The huge turnout of very motivated people gives me hope
that our political leaders will get the message and take some serious action.
This might take the form of a carbon tax, permanent solar tax credits, removal
of tax breaks for fossil fuels and someday the total phase out of the burning
of fossil fuels. Hundreds of thousands of people turned out for the climate
march which reminds me that the civil rights movement, clean water act and the
clean air act all started with these types of marches," said Porter.
Dubbed on Twitter, #CLIMATE2014, activists
mobilized in cities across the globe last Sunday to march against climate
change. New York was host to one of the largest rallies.
As demonstrators made their way down Sixth
Avenue during the People’s Climate March, Porter had this to say, ”This event,
with over 2,700 venues in more than 150 countries is perhaps the largest
climate change protest in history – and an important one. This summit is
historic because the fight against climate change is about the people who are
standing up in our communities to organize, to build power, and to shift power
for the good of our planet.”
Around the world, celebrities, political
leaders, and tens of thousands of people attended the marches against climate
change. French Foreign Minister Laurent
Fabius, primatologist Jane Goodall, former US Vice President Al Gore, New York
Mayor Bill de Blasio, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon participated in the
People's Climate March in New York.
“Clean Footprint supports a clean energy economy
that allows for clean air and water, a world safe from the ravages of climate
change, and one that promotes good jobs and healthy communities,” added Porter.

Who Cares About Parking Lot Pavement Markings?
Pavement markings
and safety signs are visible on almost every road and parking lot in the State
of Florida. Why is that?
The most basic form of motorist
information is the variety of pavement markings on streets and highways. These
stripes, shapes and symbols denote the rules of the road by giving lane
boundaries, guides for turning, crosswalk locations, and warnings of potential
hazards. Pavement markings work in conjunction with road signs and traffic
signals to give motorists a clear picture of the highway's characteristics. Because
pavement markings are directly in the driver's view of the road, they offer an
effective means of communication.
What
do the lines mean?
White and yellow lines are used along
pavement edges and between lanes to keep vehicles in line. These lines may be
solid or broken (long dashes), single or double which indicate when you can and
cannot pass another vehicle. Stop lines, crosswalks and parking spaces are also
marked by white lines. Symbols such as arrows are in white also; an exception to
this rule being the handicap symbol, which is marked in blue.
Yellow lane lines separate lanes of
traffic moving in opposite directions. Single yellow lines may also mark the
left edge of the pavement on divided highways and one-way streets. A broken
yellow line separates lanes of traffic moving in opposite directions.
Curbs are also often marked yellow in no
parking zones near fire hydrants or intersections. It is unlawful to park in or
drive through areas that have pavement markings indicating fire lanes or safety
zones.
The
lines in my parking area are faded, does it really matter?
Parking lot striping is required to keep
your parking area in compliance with current fire code and ADA specifications.
A complaint from a handicapped person or ADA or fire code inspector could mean
hundreds of dollars in fines!

Why You Should Outsource Facilities Maintenance?
Facility managers
are under increasing pressure to lower operating costs by utilizing best
practices, advanced technologies and best use of assets. In today’s
environment, outsourcing facilities maintenance makes good financial sense and
here’s why: It’s cheaper (and you get
better results).
In-house staff cost more than their salary!
A common mistake
made by companies is to overlook the soft costs of in-house facilities
management such as:
· Human resources
costs related to facilities maintenance employees,
· IT and software
costs for supporting those employees,
· Costs for issuing
purchase orders, paying bills, and managing facility budgets,
· Legal expenses for
drafting and administering vendor contracts.
By outsourcing
your facilities maintenance, these costs evaporate and staff time is freed up
to concentrate on other tasks.
Need Another Reason?
In addition to reducing operating costs,
outsourcing your facilities maintenance can improve your overall maintenance
services too. Contracting with a company whose core business is facilities
maintenance means they are the experts at just that! These professionals are trained to perform the
services they are tasked. Whether you
need stucco repaired or light fixtures changed, graffiti removed or toiled
unclogged, these highly trained professions can resolve most any maintenance
issue. More than just handymen, building maintenance professionals offer a high
range of building engineering services.
So, just think, no longer will you worry
about if your parking lot has potholes, or if the lobby is clean or if the
building needs painting. Just think of
the weight that will be lifted!
How to Outsource Your Facilities Maintenance
1) Identify the
specific facilities maintenance activities to outsource.
2) Contact your
facilities maintenance provider.
3) Together, set the
service levels and reasonable response times for each service.
