5 Things You Can Do to Personalize a Funeral Service

As each human life is singular and special, each funeral can be as well. Funeral services designed to represent the unique life being celebrated are easy to achieve. Thinking creatively and utilizing the suggestions below will earn your funeral home a reputation for recognizing the distinct impact of each life lived and lost.

Traditional funerals following a typical pattern are more frequently being replace by personalized funeral services. As a funeral professional, you have the opportunity to help your client families create a service that truly reflects the unique character of the life being commemorated. There are many options available to do this, and here we will cover five of the most impactful that will establish your funeral home as a progressive business, while gratifying your client families in their desire to celebrate the life and individualism of their loved one.

1. Tribute Videos Thorough representation of the departed is imperative to a successful personalized service. One of the most meaningful ways to do this is to honor the departed with a video tribute. Including photographs that showcase the life story and major milestones and set to music selected by the family, video tributes may be played during visitation or memorial services. Simple software can help you create touching, expert presentations that will set the tone of the service.

2. Personalized Keepsakes Unique keepsakes, such as candles customized with photographs and themes befitting the deceased can be made available to the family or all attendees. With the ability to keep memories alive, they are perfect for providing comfort during anniversaries or holidays. Other distinctive mementos are personalized holiday remembrance ornaments, bookmarks, pendants and jewelry. Touchstones that can be tangibly accessed deliver solace and continue remembrance.

3. Personal Objects Use decorations during visitation or memorial services to focus on the favorite hobbies and passions of the deceased. Treasured books of an avid reader may be displayed, golf clubs for a golfer, a quilt made by a quilter, even cookies for a baker. Create an atmosphere that faithfully characterized the departed; mourners will find comfort in these objects that recall their loved ones' interests during life.

4. Memorial Websites Memorial websites allow friends and family to leave memories, photos and videos. Entirely representative of the personality of the deceased and virtually everlasting, they can be shared with everyone or restricted to a few. An online tribute like this can be visited at any time and updated whenever desired. The family may want to post the tribute video to this type of website, or even the recorded funeral webcast - with password encryption for privacy.

5. Funeral Stationery Memorial folders and other pieces of personalized funeral stationery provide an exceptional vehicle to illustrate life milestones, photos, jokes, favorite song lyrics and prayers of the departed. Applying a theme that symbolizes him or her further customizes the celebration of that precious life. Again, given to attendees to bring home reinforces the personal nature of the funeral service.

The History of Frozen Yogurt

Frozen yogurt is quickly becoming one of the most popular snacks in the country. At your local frozen yogurt shop, you can get a tasty treat that is lower in fat and with fewer calories than almost any other dessert option available.

What is Frozen Yogurt?
Frozen yogurt is a frozen dessert made with cultured milk known as yogurt. It differs from ice cream in that it usually has a tarter flavor and is lower in fat. A frozen yogurt shop will usually offer several different flavors of frozen yogurt and provide a variety of toppings for you to create your own custom desert.

Frozen Yogurt Then and Now
  • Frozen Yogurt in the 70‘s
First served on the US’s east coast, frozen yogurt was introduced to limited success in the 1970s. A man named H. P. Hood introduced a soft-serve frozen dessert he dubbed “Frogurt” and in 1978, Brigham's ice cream shop in Boston developed and introduced the first packaged frozen yogurt under the product name “Humphreez Yogart.” The most popular frozen yogurt was introduced by the Dannon Yogurt company. They packaged frozen raspberry yogurt covered with dark chocolate served on a stick.
  • Frozen Yogurt in the 80’s
Frozen yogurt had its first big success in the 1980s. Frozen yogurt manufacturers began to experiment with recipes by adding flavor and changing the texture. What was originally not much different from traditional yogurt in texture and taste, became the tasty soft-serve we have come to love. The health-craze of the 80’s helped to boost the dessert’s popularity and the new flavor options and the opening of frozen yogurt shops in shopping malls and neighborhoods, topping at $25 million in 1986.
  • Frozen Yogurt in the 90’s
The New York Times reported that 177 million gallons of frozen yogurt was produced in the US in 1990. This frozen treat business continued to grow and sales reached $330 million; representing a solid 10% of the frozen dessert market.
  • Frozen Yogurt in the New Millennium
The frozen yogurt business began to wane a bit in the late 1990’s and early in the new millennium but around 2005 the dessert started to become popular again. Frozen yogurt manufacturers went back to more classily tart flavors and yogurt shops started providing a multitude of topping choices. This new type of shop brought new life into the frozen yogurt market and the industry has continued to thrive. 2012 estimated sales are more than $2.5 billion dollars.

Clearly, frozen yogurt has presented a wonderful opportunity for many entrepreneurs and continues to show strength. Location and business know how, of course, play a big roll in the success of any business, but many new entrepreneurs are finding great results here. If you are considering cashing in on the dessert’s success by opening your own frozen yogurt shop, consider purchasing a frozen yogurt business plan template. A frozen yogurt business plan can help you decipher the market data that you need in order to take advantage of this growing industry.

Cleaning Carpets in Your Home

Carpet cleaning is important to give your homes flooring new and longer life. While there are do-it-yourself methods where you purchase spot cleaners or rent a machine at the grocery store, a good carpet cleaning service will always give you a better result. In fact, hot water, truck mounted systems offer a greater level of cleaning power than the kinds of rug shampooers that you can rent at the store. Yet, you need to ask, because not all companies will use just that kind of equipment.

Additionally, there are some carpet cleaning services that provide shoddy work with no guarantee. To find a reputable carpet cleaner, look for a service with specific favorable references, professional business practices, state of the art equipment, and trained technicians.

Finding a good carpet cleaner is not as easy as it might sound. There is more to it than simply opening the phone book and choosing one. So, here are some tips to finding the best residential carpet cleaning service in the East Valley Arizona area.
  1. Ask friends, relatives, co-workers and your next door neighbors. Word of mouth is one of the best techniques to find the best and worst services.
  2. Search the internet for a carpet cleaner in the East Valley area. There are lots of review websites where you can find services listed. Also, be sure to visit the company's website too - usually you'll learn what methods they use, and how long they've been in business. Some even give you an opportunity to request a quote online.
  3. Find a company with the best cleaning method. Research the different methods of carpet cleaning. All companies offer different methods of cleaning including: Hot water extraction, shampooing and steam cleaning. It's important to note, in our opinion, hot water, truck mounted systems provide the best cleaning.
  4. Request a quote. Ask your carpet cleaning service to send a sales representative to your premises, assess your carpets and give you a presentation on how their cleaning process works, as well as an estimate. Be sure when you request a price quote that you understand what is and what isn't included in the estimate. Find out exactly what you will be getting for your money. If a company seems is too cheap -- be sure to ask why, there may be hidden charges.
  5. Ask for references. Any carpet cleaning company who has been established for a reasonable amount of time will be able to offer you several names and numbers to contact. If you like what you hear from the references, then call the carpet cleaning company back and schedule your cleaning!

Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT) Cleaning, Polishing, and Waxing

Without the proper maintenance, hard surface floors like vinyl composite tile (VCT) tend to lose their sheen and start to show wear. VCT is also prone to collecting dirt and grime. Dry particles on the flooring can eventually dig scratches and nicks into the VCT flooring, damaging it permanently. Damage of this nature tends to detract from the overall appearance of your commercial business. Keeping your commercial flooring in pristine condition requires the proper maintenance - cleaning, polishing and waxing.

When considering hiring a commercial floor maintenance service, be sure to look for a top-rated company that utilizes the latest equipment, knows the most specialized floor techniques and works with the best commercial floor finishes and waxes in order to revitalize and protect your VCT flooring.

Your commercial flooring service will most likely use a high speed polisher or burnishing machine. This type of floor cleaning equipment is the best way to clean, polish or wax commercial VCT flooring. Additionally, the color of the pad that the floor cleaning company will depend both on the condition of the floor and the hardness of finish still on the floor.

A professional, commercial VCT floor cleaner in the East Valley, Arizona area will be able to let you know, once they see the condition of your flooring, whether the VCT needs stripping, a scrub and recoat, spray buffing or polishing.

Often when customers ask to polish a floor, what they really need is a scrub and recoat. A scrub and recoat is done by sweeping the floor; mopping on a neutral cleaner to get the floor very wet and scrubbing with a medium aggressive pad, which are usually green or blue in color. After those steps are completed, the floor is rinsed, and left to dry. The finish is applied after the VCT has completely dried. However, if polishing is all that is required, the floor should first be dust mopped using a white, beige or hog's hair pad under the machine. Any spills should also be spot mopped. Then, the flooring contractor will just go to work with the pad until the desired level of shine is achieved.

Whether you're looking for floor burnishing, floor buffing, or floor waxing for VCT, the East Valley experts at A Mug You Can Trust can help you keep your facilities flooring in top notch condition. With more than 35 years of floor cleaning experience in the Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Apache Junction, Queen Creek, Tempe, Scottsdale, Ahwatukee, and Phoenix, Arizona areas, A Mug You Can Trust uses state-of-the-art equipment providing exceptional results for homes, commercial and retail businesses. Hernon Manufacturing's Anaerobic Pipe Sealant Ideal for DEF Applications

Independent lab test reports deem Dripstop® 940 containment free to ISO-22241 standards therefore it is ideal for use with Diesel Exhaust Fluid

Hernon Manufacturing, the innovator in adhesives, sealants and dispensing equipment, is pleased to announce it has received independent lab verification from Intertek Automotive Research, a certified accredited lab, that its Dripstop® 940 pipe thread sealant is free of the containment's listed in ISO-22241, which are the same containment's also restricted for presence in Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) applications.

In 2010, stricter EPA standards were set in place and enforcement began requiring all new diesel engines built, including boats, generators, service, public transport and fleet vehicles to switch over to DEF technology to help neutralize NOx emissions. When DEF is injected into the engine exhaust gas, it is rapidly hydrolyzed producing the oxidizing ammonia needed by the SCR catalyst to complete NOx emissions reductions.

Typically, in DEF bulk transport and transfer equipment, stainless steel fittings are used. Dripstop® 940 is specially formulated to work with stainless steel and now shows compatibility with DEF.

Hernon Manufacturing's customers within the Petroleum Bulk Transfer industry had requested a validated DEF compatible thread sealant. In response, Hernon Manufacturing submitted samples of its Dripstop® 940, an anaerobic pipe sealant, to Intertek which conducts thousands of automotive fuel and lubricant analytical tests each month. The purpose of the test was to confirm that Dripstop® 940 was containment free to ISO-22241 standards and therefore compatible for DEF technology. The product received the necessary approvals and exhibited 100% passing results for the requirements stated in the ISO-22241.

"Dripstop® 940 is ideal for use with stainless steel pipe threading, and was proven to be compatible for DEF applications by third party validation," said Harry Arnon, President of Hernon Manufacturing.

Hernon Manufacturing's Dripstop® 940 is a general purpose anaerobic pipe sealant. It has superior sealing, and has been specially formulated to be used with stainless steel pipe fittings and mild locking performance compared to tapes and non-hardening dopes. Dripstop® 940 reduces costs by eliminating leakage and increasing the assembly line speed.

"Our pipe sealant is vital for companies who manufacturer and install the equipment for bulk transfer of DEF," continued Arnon. "But, Dripstop® 940 is not just for DEF, it's suitable for both stainless steel or standard pipe thread fittings for the petrochemical industries as well."

For use on inactive metals such as stainless steel and monel , Dripstop® 940 is a high-speed thread sealant used in chemical process piping. Normally, inactive materials like stainless would require a primer to assure predictable cure. Dripstop® 940 is formulated to cure without the necessity of a primer, but, priming does reduce cure time. The enhanced chemistry of Dripstop® 940 delivers super fast cure speeds on conventional materials, like carbon steel, brass, etc. This pipe sealant withstands high pressures, sealing up to 250psig steam at 400°F (204°C) continuous service while maintaining its chemical inertness. It also lubricates threads during assembly, prevents galling, and assures smooth disassembly.

"Dripstop® 940 provides an instant seal against liquid and gas leaks at moderate pressures. For maximum pressures, the product should be allowed a full cure of 24 hours. It also eliminates waste in that there is no dripping or running," added Arnon. "Additionally, because it is solvent free it won't crack or shrink due to solvent evaporation."

Typical applications for Dripstop® 940 are: DEF bulk transfer stainless steel pipe fittings, fuel line fittings, plated flare fittings, pulp and paper mills, refinery piping, instrumentation fittings, waste treatment plants, textile equipment, piping for chlorine and caustic sodas, hydraulic line fittings, pneumatic line fittings, fluid connections, steam lines up to 250 psig and pipe plugs.

What is Thermoplastic?

Road safety depends not only on drivers and pedestrians behaving properly in traffic situations, but also on their ability to understand what's expected or ordered. This is where thermoplastic road markings enter the picture.

Thermoplastic uses thermoplastic technology to create robust, horizontal signage on asphalt and concrete.

So what is thermoplastic? A thermoplastic, also spelled thermo plastic, is a kind of plastic made from polymer resins that becomes a homogenized liquid when heated and hard when cooled. These characteristics, which lend the material its name, are reversible. That is, it can be reheated, reshaped, and frozen repeatedly. This quality also makes thermoplastics recyclable.

Thermoplastic roadway signs and marks are made using this kind of plastic. Using thermoplastic ensures long-lasting durability, as it fuses with the asphalt when heated. It also ensures a long service life that is between 6 to 8 times longer than markings painted on the road surface.

Because thermoplastic is wear and crack-resistant, markings and symbols made with this type of polymer resin are ideal for use on roads with high traffic volume. It's durability is also linked with its resistance to gas, oil, snow and frost, which also makes it particularly well-suited for heavily trafficked areas such as parking lots, intersections and city streets.

Thermoplastic signs and markings also add a higher level of safety, especially at night and in wet conditions. Adding glass beads for reflectivity offers night time visibility of the symbol and offers skid and slip resistance for customer safety.

Thermoplastic signs comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) pavement marking specifications as well as the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). This type of pavement signage can be applied to new and existing parking lots and roadways. It is suitable for lines, letters, numerals, arrows and symbols.

How to Apply Thermoplastic for Road Signs and Markings

Thermoplastic road marking, can be applied to road surfaces all year round. Professional contractors make application fast and easy, requiring just one person, a broom and a gas burner, making it a highly cost effective solution.

Be sure to utilize a company with previous experience and references on a thermoplastic job well done. This product, while ideal for a fast installation, can look sloppy and uneven if not applied correctly.
Decorative coatings utilize reciprocating heating technologies to safely raise the thermoplastic temperature to melting point, without it scorching. This makes sure that the image is not affected.

Once the signage or marking has cooled, it can be driven over within minutes of application.

The Importance of Line Striping and Marking for Your Facility

Line striping and marking your parking lot and roadways of your commercial property is important to the safety of your clients. Not only do these two things direct traffic, both for humans and vehicles, but they also help you be incompliance with specific laws.

Selecting an asphalt company with expertise in line striping design and pavement marking layouts of parking lots will ensure effective traffic flow and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.

In July 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. ADA compliance is in effect for every business owner in the United States, big or small. Keeping your company compliant with ADA guidelines on re-striping and new parking lot layouts is a must.

To safely direct traffic, you'll want to make sure your pavement lines are straight and even, but before that, a traffic flow pattern and parking lot layout must be derived. Having a well thought out plan, is as important as having even lines of the parking lot stalls. Nothing makes your business stand out more than a newly striped commercial parking lot; however, a poorly derived plan and unprofessional asphalt markings can be a disaster!

How do Asphalt Companies Mark Pavement?
To begin, the asphalt company will remove any debris from the area to be marked. For high traffic areas, durability and safety, thermoplastic road markings can be used. This polymer resin comes in a roll and can be imbedded with glass beads for night-time reflectivity. To install, it is unrolled and laid into position. Other road signs such as a thermoplastic disabled symbol, one depicting a person in a wheelchair, a bike or pedestrian symbol, or numbers - to identify parking spaces, come as flat signs. These can be laid into place after the surface is prepared. Next, using a propane gas torch, the road markings are heated until the substrate melts.

Parking lot lines can also be marked using a paint striping machine and some paint. It's a fast and easy way to revitalize your parking lot.

ABC Paving and Sealcoating is an ideal choice for all the line striping and marking needs of your commercial facility. ABC pavement marketing crews are able to provide services throughout the state of Florida. If a specific paint or material is required our line striping and pavement marking crews have the equipment and knowledge to apply it. Selecting a Commercial Painting Company

Commercial painting companies know that the appearance of your business is important to you and your clients. It’s critical to entrust the task of maintaining and enhancing the look of your commercial property to capable hands.

Commercial painting almost always requires professional assistance and maintenance because of the scale and nature of the task at hand. When it comes to tackling commercial painting projects, commercial painting contractors are needed to get the job done right.

Commercial painting contractors use a variety of methods to coat surfaces with paint. Unlike home painters, there are many more ways to lay down a layer of paint than just by applying it by a roller or a brush. Additionally, the surfaces of industrial facilities that need paint tend to require a lot more thorough preparation.

Surface Preparation
Preparation is usually the key to proper long lasting paint applications. If the surfaces to be painted have not had paint applied previously, then the process is somewhat easier. If a previous coat exists, then its removal is usually required, and this in itself is a skill that needs an expert touch.

Depending on the type of surface to be painted it can be prepared by using ultra high pressure water jets or abrasive preparation.
Pressure washing has both a washing and a blasting effect, which can remove grit and dust as well as any other loose particles. Pressure washing leaves a surface cleaner than any of the other methods of preparation. It can be used in all weathers and it has no adverse environmental effects.

Abrasive preparation can be dry, wet, or a combination of wet and dry. In this way rust, grit, dust and chemicals can easily be removed to leave a clean surface ready for the paint application.

Paint Application Methods
For metal surfaces that will be powder coated, it is necessary for the surface to be treated to be electrically conductive. Coil coating, also known as roll coating is another way to apply a coat of paint using a high speed method. Spray coating is more common of an application and is used extensively by commercial painting contractors.

Industrial painting contractors have to keep on top of all the latest developments. They need to be versatile and flexible, being able to offer a wide range of preparation processes, as well as a wide range of coating techniques and methods.
A custom painting project will beautify your Florida facility and transform your vision into a reality. Having a commercial painting project done on time and budget are important. Finding skilled commercial painters who are able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift to help minimize the disruption in your office building or facility is also necessary. Commercial painters should be able to paint only a section of your building at a time, in a careful, efficient, safe, and professional manner, so that the remainder of your building can continue operating as usual.

How to Find a Commercial Pressure Washing Company

Caring for a commercial facility is a big job. Your building's exterior is your customer's first impression . Even the most attractive of buildings can be spoiled by a dirty sidewalk, stained and mildew ridden exterior. An grimy dumpster area may lead a potential customer to wonder if it's dirty inside your building as well. The presence of graffiti may make your customer leery of their safety in your area. Therefore, exterior maintenance is fundamental to the survival of a business in this competitive day and age. Pressure washing is a quick and thorough way to clean your exterior surfaces.

Pressure washing is best left to the professionals. An unqualified or uninsured contractor can cause more damage than good, including pitted concrete, and misdirected waste water. Worse yet, often these damages are very expensive to correct.

Commercial facility owners and managers can decrease the chance of being subject to poor workmanship, uninsured damages and costly repair bills caused by unskilled laborers or fly-by-night companies, by choosing the right pressure washing company.
Selecting the best pressure washing company may not be as easy as it sounds. Your job may be too big for the small time handyman, or too small for the larger services. So, you'll want to ask some important questions of your pressure washing service to make sure you have found the right fit.

1) Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. Ask around! Surely there are other facility management people you know. Who do they use? Are they happy?

2) Set an appointment with your potential pressure washing company. They should be willing to come to your site and give you an estimate, in writing. Being present during their inspection of your facility ensures you both are on the same page as to the work required.

3) Ask if the pressure washing company is bonded and has liability coverage. This type of coverage will cover any damage or injuries that may occur. It's a must have.

4) Check references. If you have found a pressuring washing company through another means, other than word of mouth, it's a good idea to check any references they can provide.

5) Determine the best value. After receiving bids from several pressure washing contractors, decide which company offers the best value. It's not always the lowest bid that will win the job. Sometimes you need to trust your gut too. Can you trust this contractor? Do you like him? Do you believe he will provide you with the best service?
