Hernon Manufacturing, the innovator in adhesives, sealants and dispensing equipment, has been notified by the Central Florida economic-development officials that they have won the William C. Schwartz Industry Innovation Award.
Hernon Manufacturing Inc. of Sanford was chosen for having developed new water-proofing technology for ammunition used by the military and law enforcement, as well as for an advanced process of applying sealants to bullets.
Last Friday, the Central Florida economic-development officials announced the latest William C. Schwartz Industry Innovation Awards, which this year go to a half-dozen companies involved in everything from advanced health care and optics to ammunition coatings and video games.
The Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission selected five recipients last week for the annual awards, named after the late high-tech pioneer Bill Schwartz, known as the father of the region's laser industry. An additional winner was selected by the Florida High-Tech Corridor Council.
Hernon Manufacturing and the four other winners from Lake and Orange Counties, the City of Orlando, as well as the Florida High Tech Corridor, will be honored at a luncheon attended by approximately 400 community leaders on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sea World Ports of Call, located at 7007 Sea World Drive, Orlando, Florida.
