Hip Hop Dance Classes for Kids

Come to Wagner Dance and Music for hip hop dance classes for kids.  Wagner Dance and Music is located in the East Valley in Gilbert, Arizona.  The studio is convenient and close to Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, and the Phoenix area.

Hip hop dancing incorporates a variety of old and new urban dance styles, such as break dancing or b-boying, popping, locking and hitting.  They dance style emerged in the 1970’s in South Bronx, New York.  The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music.

Hip hop dance is very dynamic and improvisational in nature, with jumps, breaks, and rotations in the movements.  Hip hop dances frequently engage in formal or informal freestyle dance competitions, sometimes called “battles”.

Hip hop dancing is considered good exercise, helping dancers improve flexibility, develop body balance and coordinate their muscles.

Most dance classes for kids usually take up to an hour with about 15 minutes warm up included in each class.  Both beginner and advanced students will enjoy the hip hop classes for kids at Wagner Dance and Music.  These hip hop classes will help students perfect their dance combinations into a fast, tight and fully choreographed hip hop dance routine to some of the latest, funky hip hop music.

An excellent source of exercise, dance classes for kids are also an excellent opportunity to help your children build self-confidence and hone their skills in order to express their artistic abilities.

Basic hip hop dance moves can be used in other forms of dance, like jazz.  Many other dance classes are based on teaching dance combinations – or a series of steps put together to make a routine.  Once the student has mastered the basic hip hop dance steps, these can be used for different dances and choreography.

The numbers of routines that can be created using the basic hip hop dance moves are limitless.  The combinations can look very different based on the speed of the steps, any arm movements, and other factors.

Learning to be a good hip hop dancer takes more than one lesson.  As students learn more and more each week they attend, they will begin to look comfortable doing the coolest hip hop moves, dance with swap and attitude and even develop their own style.  Soon students will have learned the basic moves and combinations and also will have learned to change up the tempo and groove to dance along with any hip hop song.  The talented, energetic, and friendly instructors at Wagner Dance and Music will have your child hip hop dancing in no time at all.
